A Carroll man entered a plea agreement with prosecutors and sentenced to probation after stealing a car from near Merchant’s Stadium parking lot and attacking a police officer. According to Carroll County District Court records, 33-year-old Asher Dodd Herrin plead guilty to one aggravated misdemeanor charge- operating vehicle without owner’s consent, and a serious misdemeanor- assault on persons in certain occupations. On May 5, Herrin was observed by video surveillance taking the vehicle from the stadium parking lot. When being detained, Herrin attacked an officer, causing a concussion due to the officer hitting his head on a block wall. Herrin has been ordered to serve two years probation and to pay a $430 fine with a 15 percent surcharge. Probation on both charges will run concurrent with the other.
