An 8-year old boy was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Atlantic yesterday (Monday) evening. According to a report released by the Iowa State Patrol, 22-year-old Todd Schwab of Atlantic was traveling westbound in a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban on 6th Street near Birch Street when a young child ran out into the roadway. Schwab hit the child with the vehicle causing serious injuries. The boy was flown by air ambulance to Methodist Children’s Hospital in Des Moines but died from the extent of the injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
