A Bayard Man Pleads Not Guilty And Faces Stalking Charges Against Jefferson Woman

A Bayard man pleads not guilty to stalking and violation of a protective order for allegedly leaving multiple voicemails, packages and sitting outside a Jefferson woman’s residence. According to Greene County District Court records, 62-year-old Neal W. Schoon of Bayard was taken into custody on July 15 after authorities believed he violated a previously instated protective order by calling the victim, leaving voicemails, sending packages to her home between Feb. 4 and July 11. Schoon allegedly knocked on the window and doors of the woman’s home when she refused to answer his calls on June 2. Schoon has posted a $10,000 cash only bond and was released from custody last week. He faces a jury trial on Sept. 30. Schoon is currently being charged with stalking, violation of a protective order, a class C felony, third-degree harassment and 10 counts violation of a protective order, all simple misdemeanors. If convicted, Schoon can face a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and over $20,000 in fines.
