SCC Welcoming New Principals And Introducing A Spring Break In Calendar For This Upcoming School Year

The South Central Calhoun (SCC) Community School District is all geared up and ready to start the 2025-26 school year later this month. While the students and staff were out for break, the custodial team rolled up their sleeves and got to work with painting, rearranging classrooms, and a renovation to the SCC Middle School Media Center to make it a more welcoming commons area for students to gather. Superintendent Brad Anderson says aside from the media center, the only other significant change that will be noticed by students would be the district calendar.

Anderson says the district is going into the year with a great staff foundation, with the hiring of several new teachers at each education level, as well as two new principals.

New teacher orientation is on Aug. 15, with all staff reporting back Aug. 18 to allow for a full week of professional development and getting classrooms ready before the first day of school on Aug. 25. An open house is scheduled at all buildings on Aug. 21 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Anderson says the popular Gatorade Scrimmage will be held on Aug. 22, the Friday before the first day.

Anderson notes that it will be a big year for SCC this November, as school board positions and an extension for the tax of the current Physical Plant and Equipment Levy will be on the ballot.

Anderson hopes all students and staff enjoyed their summer vacation but is looking forward to seeing everyone back in the buildings on Aug. 25 for the first day of school for SCC.
