The City of Exira will be hosting its second consecutive National Night Out Tuesday evening, inviting residents and local agencies together for a community engagement event. Exira City Clerk Meg Andersen says national night out was first celebrated in 1984, as a police initiative to bring community awareness of the law enforcement that serves the area and getting residents involved. Andersen says the City of Exira took their event a step further.
Andersen says the activities will be taking place at Legion Park in Exira from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The meal will be for a free-will donation that will be put back into the city’s community visioning initiative. Andersen wishes to thank all of the volunteers, partnerships and sponsors who help to make this event a success. The City of Denison will also be participating in a National Night Out event, with live music, vehicle tours, food trucks, plus much more fun and games from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Washington Park.
