Two Harlan residents have been arrested and charged for the death of an Earling woman on Thursday last week. According to a press release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, 33-year-old Winston Joseph Leal of Harlan was taken into custody for first-degree murder, a class A felony, for the death of Theresa Kenkel. Authorities also arrested 34-year-old Ashley Elizabeth McWilliams in connection to the investigation. She is being charged with accessory after the fact, a class D felony. No further information has been released at this time and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. Both individuals remain in custody with McWilliams on a $50,000 bond and no bond has been placed on Leal.
