Lake View officials and residents heard from the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) on the future resurfacing project that is going to take place next year on U.S Hwy 175. Sarah Tracy, transportation planner with the Iowa DOT spoke to attendees at the Lake View Public Library Wednesday morning, discussing the approximately ten mile stretch of Highway 175 from Highway 71 west through Lake View to Highway 471 by Spring Lake Golf Course. The project will be going out for bid shortly and consist of a 1.5” grind, removal and resurface with the addition of extending shoulders on the road to four feet. Additional details on closures, detours, and a time-frame for completion will be released at a later date, closer to the start of the project taking place during the next fiscal year after July 1, 2026. Tracy also informed attendees that U.S Highway 71 south of Auburn to Carroll will remain as is, with a complete pavement replacement project in the works during Fiscal Year (FY) 2029, which would be after July 1, 2028.
