The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to Earling Thursday for a welfare check to find deceased female. According to an initial report, law enforcement attempted to conduct a welfare check on an individual in a residence located in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue in Earling. Authorities entered the premises and found the body of 32-year-old Theresa Kenkel. Kenkel has been transported to the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy. An investigation into the incident is ongoing but law enforcement believes this to be an isolated incident with no threat to the public. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
