The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) will no longer transport students within a two-mile radius of respective buildings and are developing a shuttle bus system for additional transportation needs for this upcoming school year. The changes to the transportation were made at the CCSD Board of Education meeting on June 19 which CCSD Transportation Director, Jennifer Dentlinger said was due to staffing restraints.

The district is required by the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) to bus children located outside the two-mile radius for elementary students and three miles for high school students from their respective buildings. Dentlinger says they decided to stay consistent and just stick with the two-mile radius for all grade levels in the district, so student(s) within the radius will need to find another form of transportation.

Bus monitors will be riding on the shuttle busses to assist the younger students with making sure they get off at the right drop off place, but parents will be responsible for securing means to get their children home from there. Dentlinger says this is an excellent time to for parents to talk to students to start utilizing GPS scanning system.
