The Calhoun County Public Health office is receiving an increase in calls for individuals needing assistance with transportation and looking for volunteers interested in helping. Due to being in a rural area, access to transportation services such as taxies, ride-share programs and even non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) agencies that would assist by driving those people to various health appointments or other errands. If anyone residing in Calhoun County would be interested in volunteering to help out, contact the Calhoun County Public Health office at 712-297-8323. Volunteers would then be placed on a list and would be contacted directly if a need for transportation in their area comes up.
