Local unemployment rates raised slightly in June for most of the listening area according to data released by Iowa Workforce Development (IWD). In the seven-county region, Carroll’s unemployment rate held steady at 2.7 percent from May to June, .5 points higher than this time last year. Audubon saw an increase of .1 points to 2.9 percent, up from the 2.4 percent reported during June 2024. Sac and Calhoun Counties both remained steady at 3.5 percent, an increase from the 3.4 percent both were reporting in May. Sac County saw a decrease of .2 points from June’s 2024 unemployment rate, while Calhoun saw a larger jump of .9 points from the 2.6 percent reported last summer. Guthrie County increased by .2 points from 3.4 percent in May to 3.6 percent in June, a jump of .9 points from June 2024. Crawford County remained steady at 4.5 percent on the month, but increased .6 points from the 3.9 percent unemployment rate in June of last year. Greene County recorded the highest unemployment rate in the area for last month at 4.8 percent, .7 points higher than May 2025 and 1.8 points higher from last year.
