CCSD Board Of Education Reviewed Policy Updates, Handbook Revisions, Change Orders And More During Monday Night’s Meeting

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education met last night (Monday) to review changes to the employee handbook, change orders for the transportation facility project, and more. Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau discussed a conflict that happens every few years regarding the athletic stadium. The issue arises during the last home football game of the season, when Kuemper Catholic is scheduled to host the first round of the playoffs, resulting in two games being scheduled on the same night at the same location. Berlau stated that the district is in contact with Kuemper to explore all options and will make a decision regarding the scheduling of that game at a later date. Updates were provided by the new administrative leaders for the district, including the elimination of assigned parking at the high school building, an updated dress code regarding students’ undergarments being exposed, the removal of the college visit requirement, and the cancellation of snowcoming activities. The board members approved quotes for change orders for the transportation facility, but will be in contact with DLR, the architect firm behind the project, regarding the supply catch basin, which was not included in the original bid. Berlau recommended five legislative priorities for the district that were established by the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB). Quotes for Edgenuity, the educational software used for online credit recovery and the R.O.A.R program, equipment and additional concrete for the transportation facility, GoGuardian’s five-year renewal for monitoring software for students’ devices, and more were all approved by the board for a total of approximately $217,047. Berlau informed the board that early next week, Jennifer Dentlinger, CCSD Transportation Director, will release more information regarding the plan for shuttle buses and the policy changes for student transportation for the upcoming school year. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more on the CCSD Board of Education meeting in upcoming newscasts.
