The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education reviewed and approved the renumbering of board policies at last night’s (Monday’s) meeting to match with the Iowa Association of School Board (IASB) reference policy manual. During the June’s school board meeting, the members approved of an online tool called Simbli, which is a board management software that will store and organize agendas, minutes, and any documents in regards to the board’s meetings. As the policies get transferred into the online system, Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau says the policy committee reviewed and made changes as needed.

Berlau says the district has yet to receive information in regards to how the investigation will be conducted by HHS. Berlau says the next big policy revision is related to chronic absenteeism.

Fines start at a minimum of $5,000 that is issued to the individual, not the district and can increase to up to $12,000 for each violation. Berlau says the training is an online module that is expected to take approximately an hour and is required by all new board members and board-appointed committees. Board members agreed to just have all members take the training as a refresher and to rule out the potential of violating open meeting laws.
