The Sac County Sheriff’s Office has received a major technology upgrade with the donation of a drone equipped with advanced thermal imaging capabilities. The drone, which will assist in search-and-rescue and emergency response efforts, was donated by an anonymous individual in partnership with Terraplex Ag LLC, a local provider of agricultural and commercial imaging drone solutions. Deputy Josh Egesdal says, “Having access to thermal imaging technology gives us a critical advantage in emergency situations, the M3T will be an invaluable tool for our team and where we can assist other law enforcement agencies in the area”. The drone’s thermal imaging allows law enforcement to conduct nighttime searches, assess dangerous situations, and respond more effectively to emergencies. Terraplex Operations Director Cherity Schroeder says, “We’re proud to support local law enforcement with the tools they need to enhance public safety. This generosity is just so reflective of our part of the state; we were moved when the request came in to facilitate and so happy to see this come to fruition.” The agency has already started working the drone into its operations.
