Colorado Woman Living In Odebolt Sentenced In Federal Court For Meth, Fentanyl Conspiracy

Court-generic

A Colorado woman residing in Odebolt who conspired to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl in northwest Iowa has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison. Forty-nine-year-old Danielle Morris, formerly of Denver, Colo., was sentenced earlier this week in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa to 76 months in prison after pleading guilty in February to one count of conspiracy to distribute meth and fentanyl. Federal prosecutors said Morris and others conspired to distribute about a pound of methamphetamine and over 1,700 fentanyl pills from January to April 2024. On April 21, while traveling to Colorado to obtain more drugs, Morris and two others attempted to flee from law enforcement at high speeds, discarding fentanyl pills along the way. In an effort to avoid arrest, Morris made a false 911 call to distract officers. Later that day, officers executed a search warrant and seized drugs, paraphernalia, and a loaded handgun from her residence. More than a dozen agencies assisted in this investigation and prosecution, including the Ida and Sac County Sheriff’s Offices. Morris remains in U.S. Marshals custody pending transfer to federal prison.
