A Carroll family is partnering with local businesses as part of a supply and donation drive for victims of the devastating flash flooding reported in Texas over the Fourth of July weekend. Initial reports show more than 100 people have died in Kerr County, including at least 28 children, after the Guadalupe River near Kerrville, Texas, rose by 26 feet in under an hour, leaving people little time to evacuate. When Summer Parrott and her husband, Ben, saw the damage, she says they knew right away they wanted to help.

In addition to the human toll, many families lost everything, leaving them with only the clothes on their backs. Anything not swept away by the floodwaters is damaged beyond use. Parrott says they are collecting items that are critical in the days after a catastrophe to deliver this weekend.

The Parrotts are partnering with local businesses and organizations throughout the rest of this week. A trailer generously provided by Brady Brehmer will be stationed outside more than a half-dozen locations for people to drop off their donations.

Parrott says Carroll County has repeatedly shown its generosity for others during times of crisis, even when it is for people who live almost 1,000 miles away. The Parrotts will depart for Texas early Sunday and make the delivery on Monday.
