Carroll Action Shooting Sports Takes Top Spots At Iowa SASP Championships

Members of the Carroll Action Shooting Sports (CASS) program were some of the top performers during this past weekend’s Iowa Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) state championships in Polk City. More than 55 youth athletes from across Iowa competed in the contest at the Olofson Shooting Range. Lucas Reising of Breda captured the High Overall Rimfire Pistol Iron title with a time of 43.93 seconds. In rifle events, Porter Snyder of Halbur posted the best overall time in Optics Rifle at 34.72 seconds, while Quinten Polking of Carroll took top honors in Men’s Iron Rifle with a time of 37.99 seconds. The Scholastic Action Shooting Program combines precision and speed as contestants shoot a series of five different targets in four stages for a timed score using rimfire pistols and rifles, centerfire pistols, and pistol-caliber carbines. Iowa Department of Natural Resources Shooting Sports and Range Development Coordinator Jonathan Jones says, “All SASP activities incorporate two key elements – safety and fun. The Scholastic Action Shooting Program provides an opportunity for Iowa’s shooting sports athletes to learn to safely handle, use, and maintain firearms while also learning to compete in these sports.” Full results from the 2025 championships are included below.
