Fuel prices declined in the days leading up to the busy holiday travel weekend, according to the latest report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, June 2, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.99, down four cents from last week and 33 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday was down three cents on the week to $3.17 per gallon. In retail diesel, prices in Iowa were down three cents to $3.57 per gallon, one cent higher than last year’s price. Local prices remain 12 cents lower than the national average of $3.69. As for renewables at the Des Moines Terminal, E10 was $1.94, Unleaded 87 was $2.29, ULSD #2 was $2.38, ULSD #1 was $2.63, and E70 was $1.86. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were down 14 cents to $3.47 per MMBtu.
