A Scranton man was killed yesterday (Tuesday) following a car/tractor crash north of Bayard. First responders were dispatched at approximately 3:41 p.m. to Highway 25 just south of the intersection with 320th Street. Authorities say a 1989 Mercury sedan, operated by 62-year-old Neal Schoon of Bayard, was traveling southbound on the highway and struck the rear of a southbound 1969 Farmall tractor, driven by 63-year-old Michael Thomas Dahl of Scranton. The initial report shows the crash pushed the tractor into the south ditch, and Dahl was knocked from the driver’s seat, sustaining fatal injuries. The investigation, led by the Iowa State Patrol, is ongoing. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Greene County Emergency Medical Services, and Scranton Fire Department assisted at the scene.
