A Guthrie Center man was arrested yesterday (Thursday) on multiple felony charges for alleged sexual abuse of a child. According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, 63-year-old Clinton Matthias was taken into custody and charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, a class B felony, third-degree sexual abuse and lascivious acts with a child, class C felonies, and indecent contact with a child, an aggravated misdemeanor. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office investigation is ongoing in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Authorities say no further information will be released at this time. Combined, the charges against Matthias carry a maximum penalty of up to 62 years in prison if he is convicted. As of this (Friday) morning, Matthias remains in custody at the Guthrie County Jail.
