The Carroll Police Department has released additional details from a single-vehicle crash on Monday that seriously injured the driver. Authorities say that the accident occurred at approximately 5:44 p.m. at the intersection of 5th and Clark Streets. Their report shows a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, operated by 34-year-old Trevor Wayne Craig of Carroll, was believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Clark and left the roadway, colliding with a tree on the northeast corner of the intersection. Craig was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was partially ejected through the front windshield. Carroll County Emergency Medical Services transported him to St. Anthony Regional Hospital, and he was later airlifted to a hospital in Des Moines for treatment. The SUV sustained severe damage in the crash and was totaled. The Carroll Fire Department and Carroll County Communications Center also assisted in Monday’s response.
