Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported after a tree toppled onto a pool full of swimmers this weekend. According to initial reports, first responders were dispatched to the 1500 block of N. Carroll St. at approximately 8:44 p.m. on Saturday in response to a large tree that had fallen over due to the windy conditions. The tree, which appears to have suffered from internal decay without outward signs of distress, collapsed due to the sustained winds over the weekend. Its canopy landed on top of a residential pool, where four people were in and around the water. The swimmers were able to exit the pool with cuts and bruises, but they otherwise avoided more severe injuries. Three people were transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital for treatment and released the following morning. The Carroll County Communications Center, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, and Carroll County Emergency Medical Services also assisted in the response.
