U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) was back in the listening area last week as she met with members of the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) in Sac County. Ernst returned to the state to meet with constituents during the short recess for the Juneteenth federal holiday. Around 20 ICGA members joined the senator Friday afternoon at Steve Pickhinke’s farm near Early to discuss the latest from Washington, D.C., on trade, biofuel promotion, and new farmer loan programs. Ernst also hosted a roundtable with stakeholders in Storm Lake on Friday to discuss the Modernizing Agricultural and Manufacturing Bonds Act (MAMBA). The legislation aims to provide first-time farmers with easier access to capital. Ernst is back in D.C. this week as the Senate rushes to vote on President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill Act before the self-imposed July 4 deadline.
