Robert Stockert of Oregon formerly of Carroll

Robert Eugene Stockert
Date Of Birth: 06/18/1936
Date of Death: 06/10/2025
Robert (Bob) Stockert passed from this life on June 10, 2025 in the home he shared with his wife of 64 years, Joyce, in Beaverton, Oregon.
He was born on June 18, 1936, the first born of Carl and Regina Stockert in Bismarck, North Dakota. Throughout his early years, he was often in the care of his paternal grandmother while Regina spent extended periods at San Haven sanatorium recuperating from tuberculosis.
He met Joyce at the wedding of his cousin, Eileen, and Joyce’s brother, Raymond in North Dakota. They started a long-distance relationship while Bob served in the U.S. Army. Soon after, this long-distance relationship led to marriage. Bob and Joyce lived briefly in Enid, OK and Ames, IA before settling in Carroll, IA where they raised their six children and where Bob owned and operated the very successful Stockert Shoes for more than 30 years. During his years in Carroll, Bob was an officer in the Elks Club, a Rotary Club member and was a leader in church and civic matters. Bob and Joyce relocated to Oregon in 1998 to be closer to family living in Portland, eventually making their home in Beaverton.
He enjoyed spending time with his family at home and traveling around the U.S. and abroad. Bob had a creative bent that showed through in his masterful carvings, clever Halloween costumes and the window displays in his shoe store over the years.
Bob was an example to all for faith, family, and community. He and Joyce were best friends in marriage for 64 years. Robert loved working in his garden, carving, woodworking, and volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul. He was an avid reader as well. He attended St. Cecilia Church, and enjoyed going for coffee after morning Mass with his friends.
In addition to Joyce, Bob is survived by his children Karen (Russ), Greg (Colleen), Nancy (Huck), Tim (Nick), Julie (Gary), and Susan (Todd). He and Joyce have seven grandchildren, Nicole, Hale, Calvin, Caitlin (Anthony), Zoe, Clare, and Keegan; and two great-grandchildren, Cecilia and Andrew. Robert also leaves behind two sisters Margaret (Simon), and Joan (Tom), and one brother Chuck (Trish).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul or Knights of Columbus in Bob’s name.
