John Gibson has been approved as the next interim city administrator for Lake View after the resignation of the previous interim, Jeff Kruse. Kruse and Gibson both volunteered to step up after the last City Administrator, Theresa Pudenz, pursued another career in the City of Cherokee. The Lake View City Council approved Kruse’s resignation, effective June 17, during the June 16 council meeting, citing personal reasons for his decision to step down from the position. Gibson, who previously served as the Public Works Director for the City of Waukee for 20 years and Interim City Administrator for the City of Grimes, has officially taken over the administrator role until a full-time candidate is hired. The council conducted four interviews with potential hires on May 19 but decided not to extend offers to any due to a lack of experience in a government or municipal role. The council and city officials are reviewing the next steps in the hiring process. Several options are on the table at this point, including sharing an administrator, replacing the role internally, and others, but all are still being considered at this time.
