Multiple Agencies Responded To Hog Confinment Fire At Same Location On Tuesday And Friday This Week

Multiple fire departments responded to a hog confinement that reignited Friday morning. According to the Wall Lake Fire Department, the agency was dispatched, along with Westside and Vail fire crews on Tuesday shortly after 4 p.m. to the 3000 block of B Avenue, approximately 10 miles west of Breda, to a fire on a hog shed. There were animals in the building at the time, and crews were on scene for approximately an hour, putting out the flames that were caused by a burner used to heat the building. While still intact, significant damage was caused to the northwest side of the building. Wall Lake and Breda Fire Departments were dispatched to the same location Friday morning at approximately 9:45 a.m., after installation on the northwest corner of the building caught in flames. There were no animals in the building at the time of the second fire. Additional damage was reported, but the confinement is still standing.
