Two Carroll Residents Face Felony Charges For Illegal Weapon Possession

Two Carroll residents were taken into custody yesterday (Thursday) on felony charges of illegal possession of a firearm. According to a Carroll Police Department affidavit, 32-year-old Fermerra Da’Shai Young and Lucio Pulido are both charged with control of a firearm by a felon, a class D felony. Authorities say Young, who is barred from owning offensive weapons due to a 2014 conviction for possession of contraband in a correctional facility, after she turned in a Ruger 9mm firearm to local authorities on June 2. Pulido, who resides at the same address as Young, is also prohibited from owning weapons following a 2024 conviction for third-offense operating while intoxicated, a class D felony. Both individuals are scheduled to make their initial appearances in Carroll County District Court on July 10. A class D felony in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
