The City of Coon Rapids invites everyone to celebrate with them this weekend the reopening of the Riverside Trail and the official designation of an American Discovery Trail (ADT) town. Community Coordinator Katie Mason says while the trails have been a part of the America Discovery Trail for quite some time, Coon Rapids is the third community in the nation to be recognized with this designation of a trail town.
The ADT spans over 6,800 miles from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast, connecting the United States’ vast recreational paths into one large trail system. By being named a trail town, Mason says individuals will know that Coon Rapids is a huge supporter of the trail and can accommodate visitors’ needs.
City officials invite everyone to come to celebrate this Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Riverside Trailhead on East Bridge Street for the presentation of this designation and the reopening of the Riverside Trail after a maintenance project.
The resurfacing project is a collaborative effort of the City of Coon Rapids, Carroll County Conservation, and private donations to secure funding. Again, join the City of Coon Rapids as they celebrate the official designation of an ADT Town and the ribbon cutting of the newly resurfaced Riverside Trail this Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
