It’s going to be a “wild weekend” at Swan Lake State Park, with numerous activities planned with Carroll County Conservation. Starting tomorrow (Friday) is Friday Night with Friends, beginning at 5 p.m., where participants will walk around the campground with a naturalist, learning about various artifacts and possibly even encountering a live animal. The amphitheater program will “jump” on stage at 7 p.m., discussing facts about frogs with attendees assisting in the statewide frog and toad citizen science survey to collect data on the amphibian’s activity. Saturday has a full schedule ahead, with Releve Yoga being held at 8 a.m. in the basement of the Education Center due to the predicted high temperatures. The afternoon will feature a bumblebee program for adults to learn about identifying and attempting to catch these pollinators for a survey. Children ten and up are invited to participate in a free opportunity to gain outdoor skills in kayaking at the Swan Lake boat ramp. Registration for Saturday events is required and can be completed using the link provided below. The fun continues Saturday night with the first of the Pella Summer Concert Series, with the Weary Ramblers taking the stage at 6 p.m. Food will be prepared by Arcadia Meats for a free-will donation, with proceeds going to support environmental education programs with Carroll County Conservation. Again, everyone is welcome to join in on the free fun this weekend at Swan Lake State Park for the first Wild Weekend with Carroll County Conservation.
