Matthew Laing, 37 of Kansas City, Missouri and formerly of Carroll, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 15, 2025 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2025 at St. Lawrence Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm. Mass Servers will be Megan Milligan, Mallory Milligan, and Connor Milligan. Music will be by Kathy Halbur and Kathleen Macke. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Jim Feauto. Gift Bearers will be Doug and Laurie Kleymann. Eucharistic Minister will be Ryan Milligan. Honorary Casket Bearers will be the staff of Commercial Savings Bank. Casket Bearers will be Molli Ginger, Tony Ginger, Tim Laing, Leah Laing, Jonas Laing, and Addy Laing. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. There will be no visitation prior to the Funeral Mass on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for a later designation.

Matthew Thomas Laing was born on April 17, 1988 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa the son of Tom and Betsy (Kleymann) Laing. He went to Kuemper Catholic High School was involved in various activities including cross country which he continued at Morningside College. He completed EMT training while in high school and later continued his medical training in Iowa City becoming a paramedic. He loved his time as a flight nurse saving lives. Matt handled emergency situations with calm efficiency and compassion throughout his life. He was currently working as charge nurse at Monterey Park in Kansas City, Missouri. Traveling, running, spending time with his dogs Mya and Rylie were passions of his.
Matt is survived by his parents Tom and Betsy Laing of Carroll; his brother Tyler Laing of Waukee; his paternal grandparents, Richard and Marilyn Laing of Sioux City; his maternal grandparents, Jerald and Suzanne Kleymann of Carroll; his aunts and uncles: Molli (Tony) Ginger, Tim (Leah) Laing, DeeDee Watkins, Doug (Laurie) Kleymann, and Dave (Lori) Kleymann; his extended family, Tony (Marilyn) McCormack; as well as other family and many friends.
His uncle, Guy Watkins, preceded him in death.
