City Of Dedham Sees Major Upgrades With Help From Region XII

Substantial changes are underway in Dedham this year, including infrastructure, recreation, and housing, thanks to some assistance from the Region XII Council of Governments. Local Assistance Director Chris Whitaker says the most significant piece is a substantial overhaul of the city’s water distribution system.

Whitaker adds city leaders’ focus goes beyond what is underground. He says they’ve also been pursuing “quality of place” improvements in recent years, from their public parks to their ballfield.

Like many rural Iowa towns, workforce housing has been high on Dedham’s priority list, and Whitaker says two new homes will be available in town by the end of the year thanks to a partnership between the city and Region XII.

Region XII offers a range of services, including grant writing and regional planning, to municipal governments in Sac, Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Audubon, and Guthrie Counties, as well as Dallas Center, De Soto, Perry, Redfield, and Woodward in Dallas County.
