More than 130 participants turned out this past Saturday for the Carroll Chamber of Commerce’s 10th Annual Color Fun Run/Walk at Swan Lake State Park. The 5K event sent runners and walkers along the Sauk Rail Trail, starting and ending at the park’s South Shelter House. Along the way, participants were showered in an artist’s palette of cornstarch-based powders at 10 color stations sponsored by local businesses. Chamber Program Director Ashley Schable says, “The event is less about your 10-minute-mile and more about the fun of being doused from head to toe in different colored powder. The color zone crews do a great job of providing their own fun along the course, with music and decorations, and participants really enjoy each of the zones.” The Carroll Chamber staff and Carroll Merchants teamed up at the final station with a five-color finale. Ryan North of Carroll claimed first place, followed by Parker and Owen Engel of Sac City. Winners received blender bottles, wellness goodies, and Carroll Chamber Bucks. After the race, participants enjoyed drinks and snacks provided by sponsors.
