A Lake City woman is facing multiple felony charges for assisting a Jefferson teen for a May shooting in Lake View. According to Sac County District Court records, 25-year-old Alexis Ann Carothers allegedly aiding and abetting 16-year-old Keegan Dean Kennedy to shoot 30-year-old Dalton Goodman of Sioux City in the head and hit him several times in the face with the same firearm. Authorities also believe Carothers assisted Kennedy to conceal the weapon following the incident. She is facing charges of second-degree kidnapping while being armed with a dangerous weapon and attempted murder, both class B felonies, willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony, going armed with intent, a class D felony, and interference with official acts for obstructing prosecution, an aggravated misdemeanor. She was booked into the Ida County Jail on June 3 on a $275,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 16 at the Sac County Courthouse. If convicted, Carothers faces a maximum sentence of up to 67 years in prison, with a mandatory minimum of 46 years before being eligible for parole, and over $32,000 in fines. Kennedy has plead not guilty for charges on attempted murder, a class B felony and willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony. He will face a jury trial on July 22 and if convicted could serve up to 35 years in prison, with a minimum of 25 years, and $13,660 in fines.
