Calhoun County Deputy And K9 Officer Placed During U.S. Police Canine Association Inc. 2025 Trials

Calhoun County Deputy Kelly Moritz and K9 Spike earned high marks during the United States Police Canine Association Inc. 2025 National Detector Trials earlier this month. The trials took place in Tulsa, Okla. from June 1 through June 4. K9 teams from across the country competed in indoor and vehicle searches for narcotic detection and explosives. Deputy Moritz and K9 Spike scored a perfect score of 100 during the indoor search and 98 out of 100 during the vehicle trials. With those scores, the team earned 2nd place in the indoor search portion and finished 9th overall. The two were paired with Iowa Department of Corrections Officer Daniel Horn and K9 Khaos for a regional team, which earned a 1st place finish altogether.
