A Carroll man was taken into custody on a felony criminal mischief charge yesterday (Wednesday) for allegedly vandalizing a vehicle. According to a Carroll Police Department affidavit, 18-year-old Aiden James Kennebeck was arrested for second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony. Authorities say Kennebeck threw objects at a 1997 Toyota Avalon parked in the 900 block of N. East Street on May 25, breaking a windshield and damaging the car’s body. Damage to the vehicle is estimated to be in excess of the car’s value. Kennebeck has also been charged with fifth-degree theft and possession of alcohol under the legal age, both simple misdemeanors for separate incidents on May 25 and June 4, respectively. Police note additional charges against Kennebeck are pending. A class D felony in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
