The Regional Water Rural Water Association (RWRWA) announced on Monday that it has lifted the boil advisory for its direct customers, effective immediately. The advisory, which has been in effect since May 14, remains in place for residents of Brayton, Exira, Earling, Panama, and Portsmouth, where testing continues. Results are expected by tomorrow (Wednesday), which could mean the end of the weeks-long advisory for customers. To lift an advisory, two sets of water samples must test negative for bacteria. Regional Water confirmed both tests came back clear for its main system. “Level Yellow” water-use restrictions are still in place as drought conditions persist in southwest Iowa. Although water towers have maintained pressure, officials warn that excessive usage could drop pressure below safe levels, triggering another advisory. A temporary booster pump connecting Regional Water to Council Bluffs is expected to be completed by June 11 following weather-related delays. Residents are urged to continue conserving water by limiting outdoor use, avoiding nonessential washing, and reducing consumption in large facilities.
