A week from today (Monday), a 10-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 71 will be closed to vehicle traffic for extensive construction work between Auburn and Carroll. Construction begins at 7 a.m. on June 9. A detour will be in effect for commuters for the duration of the project. The nearly 30-mile detour takes motorists around the construction zone utilizing U.S. Highway 30 in Carroll County, Concord/Perkins Avenue north of Arcadia, and 370th Street and Iowa Highway 175 to Auburn. The closure is expected to last around 2.5 weeks, with a projected end date of Thursday, June 26, weather dependent.
