The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is kicking off the 2025 summer season with the return of its State Parks Passport. The passport offers visitors a chance to earn points, win prizes, and discover hidden gems across the state’s many public parks and forests. Running June through October, the digital passport can be downloaded to a mobile device, allowing users to check in at more than 60 participating parks. Now in its sixth year, the program continues to attract outdoor enthusiasts eager to explore Iowa’s natural beauty. Each park is worth 100, 200, or 300 points, with “hidden gem parks” earning the highest value. Points can be redeemed for prizes, including discounted camping stays, limited-edition stickers, and a free Iowa State Park t-shirt. Each check-in also serves as an entry into the grand prize drawing, which is a free three-night cabin stay at Springbrook State Park in Guthrie County.
