The burn ban that was implemented in Audubon County due to the water restrictions set by the Regional Water Rural Water Association (RWRWA) has been lifted. The decision follows the downgrade from a red level, which is rationing, to a yellow alert level or a conservation status for the counties. Residents are asked to notify the Audubon County Dispatch Center at 712-563-2631 if planning to conduct a controlled burn. The fire chiefs of the communities in Audubon County have agreed to utilize auto aid and alternative water sources if needed to continue their support in conservation efforts. If restrictions on rural water return to a red status, the burn ban may be reinstated.
