Several roads and intersections around the Carroll Rec Center area will be closed off tomorrow (Saturday) due to the REC’s Youth Triathlon. The event will feature young athletes ages 6 to 15 competing in running, biking and swimming competitions against peers. The races will go from the Carroll Aquatic Center, biking through Graham Park and finishing out at the Carroll Athletic Stadium for the running event. The following intersections and roads will see an increase in pedestrian traffic and will be closed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the races: 11th Street intersections with Vine Street, Grant Road and N East Street, N East Street at the 10th and 9th Street intersections, the roadway through Graham Park, and Grant Road at the intersections of 7th Street and Highway 30. City of Carroll crews are asking travelers to plan alternative routes during that time and to drive cautiously around the affected streets. Everyone is welcome to come out to cheer on the young athletes competing in the Carroll REC’s Youth Triathlon.
