Carroll City Council Approves Memorandum Of Understanding To Vacate East Street For Proposed Kuemper Expansions

The Carroll City Council formally approved a memorandum of understanding with the Kuemper Catholic School System to vacate a portion of East Street to facilitate the parochial school’s master facilities plan. The council voted unanimously at its Feb. 10 meeting in support of Kuemper’s request. However, City Manager Aaron Kooiker says the school wanted the city to formalize its support via a memo.

Kooiker notes the city would have to take additional action later on to vacate this section of East Street, but it does provide assurances to school officials that the city is willing to do so if the campus expansion designs require it.

As it stands, Kuemper Catholic has contracted with a design firm to examine the existing facilities and propose several options to better equip the school for the needs of students, staff, and the community for generations to come. One of the proposals being considered is to expand east of the Holy Spirit Elementary School to consolidate Kuemper into a single campus.
