The City of Glidden aims to enhance the appearance of corners on Idaho Street by inviting residents or organizations to plant flowers or other greenery at several intersections. City Administrator Brooke Peterson says a project was completed on these same corners a while ago; the city is now seeking extra help to maintain the landscape.
Peterson says this would be an excellent project for organizations, youth groups, churches, or anyone who has a passion for gardening. Sponsors would be responsible for planting and maintaining the area throughout the year.
There are currently ten corners available along Idaho Street from the 3rd Street intersection north to 5th Street. Peterson asks sponsors to choose low-profile plants for safety concerns with traffic at the corners and to make room for the next project the City of Glidden plans to roll out.
There is also a garden at Northland Park, located by the shelter house, for anyone who would like to maintain a larger-scale plot.
Anyone interested in sponsoring a corner or the garden can contact Peterson by email at Brooke@cityofglidden.org or by calling the office at 712-659-3010.
