Audubon Man Facing Felony Lottery Theft Charges After Allegedly Only Paying For Winning Tickets

An Audubon man is facing multiple lottery theft charges after allegedly taking scratch and lottery tickets from his place of employment. According to Audubon County District Court records, 49-year-old Jacob Anthony Krieger was taken into custody earlier this month after allegedly taking a MegaBucks scratch ticket and printing off Iowa Lottery InstaPlay tickets while employed at a gas station in Audubon. Krieger allegedly would scan the tickets to see if they were winners before paying for them. All tickets that did not win cash were thrown away and not paid for. Krieger is facing two counts of lottery forgery, both class D felonies. An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for June 16. If convicted, Krieger can face a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and over $20,000 in fines.
