Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) will launch a new, modernized unemployment system on June 3, replacing the state’s decades-old platform and creating a centralized hub for job seekers and claimants. The current system will shut down at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, for a planned transition period. No claims or new accounts will be processed from May 28 to June 2. IWD encourages claimants to file their weekly claims before the downtime to avoid delays. The new system will go live on Tuesday, June 3, and will streamline the process for filing claims, searching for jobs, and completing reemployment activities. Previously, Iowans had to use multiple websites and logins. IWD Director Beth Townsend says, “Modernizing our unemployment system is the culmination of a lot of thoughtful work, and we’re excited to combine our systems in one central location on iowaworks.gov. Once live, this system will greatly enhance the experience for both individuals and employers and will help place them both in positions that will ultimately benefit our entire workforce.” The update also enhances security features and expands user access hours. Iowa employers will continue using MyIowaUI for tax payments but will manage claims-related tasks through the new system. More details about the transition are available through the link included below.
