Two women were injured yesterday (Thursday) afternoon in a Webster County crash that also killed a Des Moines man. According to the Iowa State Patrol, that crash occurred at approximately 4:03 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and County Road P29 west of Moorland. Authorities say a 2011 Honda Fit, operated by 82-year-old Hal Chase of Des Moines, was traveling northbound on P29 and failed to stop at the posted stop sign. An eastbound 2023 Lincoln Nautilus, driven by 78-year-old Diane Witt of Arcadia, collided broadside with the Chase vehicle. Chase, Witt, and Witt’s passenger, 51-year-old Stacie Segebart of Westside, were transported to Unity Point Hospital in Fort Dodge, where Chase later died from his injuries. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Iowa Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit, Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Moorland Fire Department, and Webster County Emergency Medical Services.
