This Memorial Day, the Carroll American Legion, alongside many of the region’s other veteran organizations, is leading a full day of remembrance. RT Shreck, an American Legion member, says activities begin early in the morning with the Legion’s Honor Guard.
Parade participants will begin forming up at 10 a.m. near Southside Park. The procession will begin at 10:30 a.m., featuring city dignitaries, the fire and police departments, and both the Kuemper and Carroll High School bands. The parade runs for six blocks east on 1st Street before entering the cemetery, and Schreck says they will once again have their annual Memorial Day Services.
Schreck says the public is invited to a free luncheon, sponsored by Carroll Hy-Vee, at the Carroll American Legion Hall following the services.
