District 4 U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) on Thursday voted in favor of President Donald Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping legislative package supporters say is aimed at enacting major tax cuts, boosting American manufacturing, strengthening border security, and advancing the president’s “America First” agenda. Feenstra says, “More than 77 million Americans made clear at the polls that they want President Trump’s America First agenda codified into law, and our ‘One, Big, Beautiful Bill’ delivers on this promise. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, our families will see big tax cuts, Iowa workers will have higher wages, our farmers will see relief from the death tax, and our small businesses and local manufacturers will grow and thrive. Iowa will lead the way to restore our economic might and revive our manufacturing dominance.” Feenstra highlighted provisions he led or supported, including increasing the death tax exemption, expanding paid family leave options for small businesses, and reducing crop insurance costs for young and beginning farmers. The bill also includes investments in biofuels, watershed infrastructure, and disease prevention in agriculture, along with tax reforms such as a higher standard deduction, increased child tax credit, and a new $4,000 senior bonus deduction. The legislation also includes funding for border wall construction and stricter rules for public benefit eligibility. Opponents argue the bill does too little for the poorest Americans and doesn’t sufficiently address the nation’s growing debt crisis. The 1,000-plus-page bill now heads to the Senate for consideration.
