Iowans saw gas prices increase by several cents in this week’s fuel report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, May 21, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $2.93, up three cents from last week but 31 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average for gasoline on Wednesday held steady at $3.18 per gallon. As for retail diesel, Iowa prices rose by five cents to a $3.34 per gallon average, 27 cents below last year’s price and 21 cents below the $3.55 national average. In renewable fuels at the Des Moines Terminal, E10 was at $2.08, Unleaded 87 was priced at $2.47, ULSD#2 came in at $2.24, ULSD#1 was $2.49, and E70 rang in at $1.96. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were down 12 cents at $3.38 per MMBtu.
