For many, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start to summer. Lake View kicks off its holiday weekend activities with city-wide garage sales starting Friday, May 24. The events continue into Saturday, when the Men’s Club Reel Fun Fishing Tournament begins at 7 a.m. and continues until 2 p.m. The tournament is for all ages, and prizes are available. Participants can register at Town Bay on the morning of the contest. Alternatively, there is also the Garden Club Memorial Day Plant & Bake Sale, running from 8 a.m. until noon. Saturday also marks the beginning of the Lake View Farmers’ Market season. The market will stay open every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to noon from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Furthermore, the Lake View Historical Museum and Log Cabin open for the season and will remain open until Labor Day.
