Stewart Memorial Hospital and Clinics welcomed 25 students from Glidden-Ralston, Manson-Northwest Webster, and Southeast Valley high schools on May 2 for an Interactive Career Day designed to spark interest in healthcare careers. The event gave students an inside look at a range of medical professions. Participants rotated through departments including the operating room, obstetrics, outpatient infusions, wound care, laboratory, radiology, emergency services, rehabilitation, dietary services, and information technology. Students got hands-on experiences in each section, such as practicing suturing techniques, administering IVs and injections, exploring labor and delivery scenarios, and even X-raying pig legs to learn basic radiology skills. Nurse Education Director Ashley Mork says, “It was a privilege to engage with such motivated and curious students. We hope this experience helped them envision future opportunities in the medical field and inspired them to consider a career in healthcare.” Stewart Memorial plans to continue supporting future healthcare professionals, with another Interactive Career Day scheduled for the fall.
